24 teams will compete at the European Championships for the first time as the tournament returns to France, 56 years after the first ever continental championships back in 1960.

England will be one of the strongest nations at the tournament after qualifying with a perfect record and with 50 years since their World Cup win, this would be an appropriate occasion to win their first ever European title.

Having made it to their first international tournament in 58 years, Wales will provide a stern test for the Three Lions in Group B. The two home nations meet on Thursday 16th June in the standout match of the group stages. Russia and Slovakia make up the group.

Northern Ireland have also made it to their first Euros. Not since the 1986 World Cup have they played a major international tournament. However, with a group containing world champions Germany, they'll have to produce some special performances to advance to the knockout stages.

The Republic of Ireland also play in this year's group of death, containing the highest ranked team in World Football (Belgium), Italy and Sweden.

France open the tournament against Romania on Friday 10th June.
